Utility trenching in Northern Colorado

Excavation Services

Utility
Trenching

Clean, precise trenching for water lines, electrical conduit, gas lines, drainage, and more — dug right and backfilled clean across Northern Colorado.

What We Do

Precision Trenching,
Done Right

When you need to get a utility from point A to point B underground, the trench is everything. A bad trench — wrong depth, poor bedding, improper backfill — means a failed inspection, a sunken lawn, or a cracked line years later.

Jake's compact JCB equipment gets into tight residential spaces that full-size machines can't touch — through side gates, along fences, close to foundations. We dig it clean, bed it right, and backfill it properly so the ground settles level and your yard looks like we were barely there.

Applications

What We Trench For

Electrical Conduit

Underground power runs to shops, garages, outbuildings, pools, or panel upgrades. Clean, code-compliant trenches at the right depth.

Water & Irrigation Lines

New water service lines, well connections, or irrigation system supply runs. We work around existing utilities and minimize surface disruption.

Gas Line Burial

Safe, properly bedded trenches for natural gas or propane line installations, sized to code and inspected before backfill.

Sewer & Drain Lines

Gravity-flow sewer laterals, cleanouts, and perimeter drain connections. We maintain precise grade throughout so everything flows correctly.

Telecom & Data

Fiber, coax, and low-voltage cable runs to outbuildings, detached garages, or across large properties — installed right the first time.

Septic System Lines

Inlet and outlet runs, inspection port access, and distribution box connections as part of new or replacement septic installations.

How It Works

Our Process

01

Mark & Locate

We call 811 before every job. All existing utilities are marked before a single bucket hits the ground.

02

Route Walkthrough

We walk the exact route with you — agreeing on path, depth, and any obstacles before we start.

03

Precision Dig

Our compact JCB keeps the trench tight and clean. Sod is cut and set aside for replacement.

04

Bedding & Utility Install

Correct bedding material for the utility type — sand, gravel, or native soil — before the line goes in.

05

Grade Check & Test

Laser grade for gravity lines. Pressure or continuity test for water and electric before closing.

06

Backfill & Restore

Compacted in lifts to prevent settling. Surface restored as close to original as possible.

Common Questions

Utility Trenching FAQ

Depth requirements vary by utility type. Water lines typically require 4–5 feet to stay below the frost line. Electrical conduit ranges from 6 to 24 inches depending on wiring type. Gas lines are typically 18–24 inches. We always trench to the correct depth for your specific utility and local code.
