Backfilling
Proper backfill protects your foundation for decades. We compact in lifts, grade to drain, and never rush — because settling isn't something you can fix later.
What We Do
Backfill Done Right,
The First Time
Foundation backfill looks simple — just push dirt against the wall? Wrong. Improper backfill causes settling that cracks driveways, pulls landscaping away, and creates pathways for water.
We place backfill in controlled lifts, compact each layer to proper density, and grade the final surface to direct water away. It takes longer than just pushing dirt in, but it's the only way to do it right.

When You Need Backfill
New Home Construction
Filling around new residential foundations after waterproofing and drainage are complete.
Additions & Extensions
New foundation walls for additions need proper backfill to match existing grade and drainage.
Waterproofing Repairs
After exterior waterproofing repairs, we backfill with proper drainage material.
Retaining Walls
Proper backfill and drainage behind retaining walls prevents hydrostatic pressure problems.
Commercial Foundations
Larger footings and deeper foundations need engineered backfill compacted in lifts.
Utility Trench Backfill
After utility work around foundations, we restore proper compaction and grade.
How It Works
Our Process
Inspection
Verify waterproofing, drainage, and inspections are complete before any backfill begins.
Material Selection
Choose appropriate material — native soil, granular fill, or engineered mix per specs.
Lift Placement
Place material in 6–12 inch lifts. Never dump full depth at once.
Compaction
Compact each lift with plate compactor. Hit density specs without damaging foundation.
Grade to Drain
Final grade slopes away — minimum 6 inches over the first 10 feet.
Surface Prep
Leave surface ready for landscaping, hardscape, or final grade work.
